The next day, on january 28th, we went on another trip. It was only supposed to last for two hours, so we knew it wouldn’t be much of an effort. We got picked up outside our hotel by our evenings guide, and then we drove with him and some other tourists, in a snowcat to outside the town. The plan was to go on a northern light safari, and maybe take some pictures of it, but it’s not always that straightforward. Since the aurora is a force of nature, it cannot be controlled. Sometimes it appears, other times not. If there is a lot of clouds, they might block it too. So we didn’t get to see any northern lights this evening. We did however see a reindeer. I tried taking a few pictures, both of the reindeer and the surroundings, but failed miserably. I didn’t have a camera stabilizer, which is pretty much a must if you wanna take pictures in the dark. Very bad planning on my end! All in all, the trip was boring, and not at all worth it. We were both a bit disappointed, but that’s just what happens on trips like this. Not everything can be amazing. We went back to the hotel and had a few drinks.
