The last full day we had on Svalbard (january 29th), we were gonna go do something we both really looked forward to: Dog sledging, and we would get to drive it our self. Maybe we even got to see some northern lights… First the instructor told us how to control the sledge, and what to tell the dogs, and that the tone of our voice was more important than the words itself. I didn’t want to drive, so I let my husband do it. I sat in the sledge. The trip was everything we hoped for, and more. To our great surprise, the northern lights even started to show up right before we started, and lasted for at least half an hour. We took some pictures if it, and two of them turned out ok, even if we didn’t have a camera stabilizer (we supported it on the sledge instead). I would have gotten more pictures if it hadn’t been for the camera battery. Apparently the battery didn’t deal with the cold very well, and went out of juice pretty fast. I probably should have known this too, and bought an extra battery before I went on the trip to Svalbard. At least I have learnt a few things I didn’t know, that I can fix next time we go on a trip!
